Narconon Day

Whereas, the NARCONON program in Houston, Texas is through the Gift of Life Drug-free (GOLD) launched on August 24, 2004, and it is the first faith-based arm to NARCONON spearheaded by Reverend James J. McLaughlin, Sr.; and,

Whereas, NARCONON has been providing life-saving drug rehabilitation to citizens across the world now comprising over 140 centers in over 40 countries, including Houston, Texas to help rid the planet of this mammoth problem; and,

Whereas, the cumulative benefit of NARCONON’s work is wellness, with a 7 out of 10 success rate. It has helped to make healthier, honorable, productive and peaceful individuals and communities by addressing the harm and degradation of alcoholism and drug addiction. NARCONON has produced across its network tens of thousands of renewed people who have graduated from the program with restored lives.

The City of Houston salutes and commends the organizers and participants of this worthwhile endeavor, and extends best wishes for a successful and rewarding observance.

Therefore, I, Bill White, Mayor of the City of Houston, hereby proclaim March 13, 2007, as

NARCONON Day

in Houston, Texas.
