The 2022 Monitoring the Future Survey was finalized and published recently. The findings showed no progress in reducing teen substance abuse rates from 2021 to 2022, as rates of substance abuse among young people held steady compared to drug use rates in previous years.

How does the vicious cycle of drug abuse and alcohol misuse end? Every time a new generation comes of age, a certain percentage of those individuals experiment with drugs and alcohol. It seems inevitable, but it certainly does not have to be. If young people receive a good, open, supportive, communicative, and fact-based education with ongoing, revisited conversations with parents and teachers about drugs, they are far less likely to experiment with substances.

My Friend has a Drug Problem, What Do I Do?

There are two different groups of people who seek help for drug and alcohol addiction. The first is the group of individuals who are themselves struggling with drug problems. Then there are those who are seeking help for a family member or loved one who is struggling. These are the moms, dads, spouses, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, etc. People who do not struggle with a drug habit themselves (but who have a loved one who struggles) are often at a loss for what to do. So they turn to the internet for help.

Arkansas, Addiction Crisis. Holding Pharma Accountable, and Helping Those Addicted

Arkansas recently made national news when the state’s attorney general sued three major drug distributors for their alleged role in creating and adding to the opioid addiction epidemic. Attorney General Leslie Rutledge claimed that Cardinal Health, McKesson Corporation, and AmerisourceBergen failed to monitor and report highly suspicious shipments of opioids into Arkansas.
