Narconon Like a Big Family
A person addicted to drugs or alcohol finds himself quite isolated and alone. His family and friends have become alienated, not knowing what to do to help him. He loses jobs and relationships are destroyed. As he struggles with his addiction, he can feel extremely hopeless. He has lost himself. However, Narconon is the solution to achieving lasting recovery.
After a 2009 survey done of those people between the ages of 15 to 64 in the Netherlands, it was discovered that 25.7% had used marijuana in their lifetime, 6.2% had used Ecstasy, and 1.4% had used cocaine. These figures are much too high, with the general population continually being exposed to drug use through friends, school peers and acquaintances. It is important that an effective drug rehab is available to achieve lasting sobriety for those in the country.
One Zutphen Rehab graduate in Holland was interviewed recently and asked to share his experience in doing the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. His statement shed light on how the Narconon program helped him and others to live a drug-free life.
“When I went there, I was suddenly accepted. I was accepted instantly as a part of a group. It was like a big family.” The atmosphere was impressive to him, but that was not all.
“What I also liked is that, more than just a conventional program, it helped with personal problems. Other people I saw–it helped with problems with their family.Things were fixed between them and their family. People were helped finding a job, finding a house, things like that. So you’re not a number–you’re more.”
The Narconon program does so much more than simply getting an addict through withdrawal and eliminating the toxic drug residues from the body through the use of the Narconon New Life Detoxification. It helps the recovering addict obtain vital information needed for improving conditions in his or her life.
For example, a person who has abused drugs in the past often started his life of drug addiction because some person influenced him to use drugs. The Narconon Ups and Downs in Life Course teaches the student to recognize the difference in people who would lead them down the wrong path and those who would support a sober lifestyle. This helps to proof the person against relapse.
When this skill is learned along with others–such as how to restore personal values and integrity, and how to live a life filled with happiness–a recovering addict has a much better chance at lasting sobriety and having a productive and fulfilling life ahead of them.
