PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in 1966, the Narconon Program was founded and expanded into a worldwide network of charitable public benefit drug rehabilitation and prevention organizations now encompassing more than one hundred centers in twenty-nine countries, and has helped millions of individuals and salvages the lives of drug addicts daily, and
WHEREAS, the people and economy of Clearwater and its surrounding communities are directly affected by the problems inherent in drug abuse and addiction, including personal and family tragedy and loss of income, as well as the social and financial burden of protecting Clearwater’s residents and businesses from drug related crimes, and
WHEREAS, in the past year Narconon Florida has been working with the members of the community and local government to establish a Narconon drug education, intervention and prevention program to provide workable solutions for the betterment of the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN J. AUNGST, Mayor of the City of Clearwater, Florida, on behalf of the Clearwater City Commission, do hereby proclaim, Wednesday, March 13, 2002 to be
NARCONON DAY
in Clearwater.
