The State of Kansas Proclaims Narconon Day

By the Governor State of Kansas
TO THE PEOPLE OF KANSAS, GREETINGS:
WHEREAS, Thirty years ago, inmate William Benitez founded the Narconon Program inside the walls of Arizona State Prison based on the book Fundamentals of Thought, by American author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard, and began the successful rehabilitation of himself and other inmates addicted to heroin and other drugs including alcohol; and
WHEREAS Thousands of individuals each year addicted to alcohol and other drugs become drug-free using L. Ron Hubbard’s successful rehabilitation methods at the 38 Narconon Centers located in the United States, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and most recently in Colombia, New Zealand, Russia, and even in the state prison located in the town of Ensenada, Mexico; and
WHEREAS Over one million school children have received the Narconon Substance Abuse Prevention Program giving them the truth about alcohol and other drugs; and
WHEREAS, Narconon staff and volunteers around the world have dedicated their lives in an effort to prevent our future generation from going down the terrible road of addiction, and have taken in those that are addicted to alcohol and other drugs to help them conquer their addiction and accomplish freedom from drugs once and for all; and
WHEREAS, Narconon and its’ international spokesperson, Kirstie Alley, are celebrating 30 years of saving lives March 30, 1996, at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California; and
WHEREAS, Kirstie Alley will be presenting this year’s annual Narconon Drug-Free Hero Awards to six unsung heroes and role models in the battle against substance abuse. They are: George Foreman, Lou Gossett Jr., Diane Ladd, Dr. Fred Baughman, Jack Gustafson, and Jerilyn Simpson:
NOW, THEREFORE, I BILL GRAVES, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF KANSAS, do hereby proclaim March 30, 1996, as
Narconon Day
