Cupertino, California Narconon Recognition
Proclamation
WHEREAS, alcohol and drug abuse are serious problems in our society in that one out of five adult Americans has an alcohol or drug problem that requires treatment; and
WHEREAS, for 26 years, the worldwide Narconon network has been a leader in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse through its education and rehabilitation services; and
WHEREAS, there are many valiant individuals and groups in the Greater Bay Area working to rid our society of problems associated with alcohol and drug abuse; and
WHEREAS, the city of Cupertino believes the activities of these individuals and groups are worth of recognition; and
WHEREAS, the city wishes to commend the efforts of those individuals and groups as Narconon of Northern California bestows Awards of Merit to them on Sept. 25, 1993,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Nick Szabo, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby proclaim Sept. 25, 1993, as
BUILDING A DRUG FREE FUTURE DAY
in our city and urge all citizens to join in the cause to ensure the well-being of this and all future generations by taking a strong personal stand against alcohol and drug abuse.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this 1st day of September, 1993.
