An Addict Now Able to Be Who He Really Wants to Be
Unfortunately, it sometimes takes disastrous events occurring in one’s life before an addict becomes aware of how addiction is destroying him. Drugs and alcohol numb a person to reality. The addict will not often take action on his own until circumstances bring it home to him how terrible things are and how much he has lost. However, families most often need to take the initiative in finding an effective drug rehab for their loved one. This is what happened to Dan, despite hitting rock bottom.
He said, “I’d like to share with you the event that put me at my rock bottom. I had been at a friend’s house drinking and smoking pot. I was going home. I got in my SUV and started an easy two-mile drive. I passed out, went off the road, flipped three times. This was DUI number three. At the hospital, I was arrested.”
When he got out, he isolated himself—still drinking, using marijuana and doing cocaine on occasion. Then he was injured on the job and while he was recovering, he was home all day and just continued to drink. He said, “My family stopped calling me because they could never get a sober Dan on the other end.” Finally, his mother called him and he kept insisting he was fine, but his mother said, “You aren’t fine.” He cracked and went to her for help to find a rehab program.
His family found the Narconon program and was impressed with the high success rate. They knew that this was Dan’s only hope. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program has extremely effective methods of addressing addiction, giving the best chance at lasting recovery and a fulfilling and happy life.
After going through withdrawal with the personalized care by trained staff, the recovering addict does the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This portion of the program uses sauna time, a generous administration of vitamins and minerals in exact measure and daily moderate exercise to flush out drug residues from the body. These residual drugs would otherwise remain in the system and contribute to triggering the cravings for alcohol or drugs. Once complete on this sauna-based detox, the recovering individual feels a large difference in his mental and physical condition.
Dan said, “Since my arrival four months ago, many great things have happened. The sauna took care of numerous aches and pains, cleared my mind, and diminished my craving to use drugs and alcohol.” After he finished the sauna portion of the program, Dan went on to study the six courses that make up the comprehensive life skills training.
On the Narconon Life Skills Courses, the student takes a trip of self-discovery. He can find out for himself what led him to become addicted. Additionally, he learns how to repair damaged areas of life from his past addiction. Dan said, “These courses gave me the tools to reinforce the ideas of morals, ethics and integrity.” The most important course for Dan was the course titled Changing Conditions in Life. On this course, a recovering addict is given tools which he can use to improve many areas which were harmed by his addiction such as relationships with family, friends or employers.
He said, “This program has empowered me to be whoever I want to be.” Narconon has healed addicted lives for more than fifty years. Addicts get back their lives, families get back their children.
